Heartbreaking Experience with Negligence and Exploitation at Medicover Hospital My family trusted Medicover Hospital and Dr.R.D.Naik with my mother's life, but our experience was not only disappointing but also devastating and deeply unethical. My mother was diagnosed with multiple heart blockages and advised by Dr. R.D. Naik to undergo immediate open-heart surgery. The surgery was performed on 22nd October 2024, and while the operation seemed successful initially, the follow-up care, communication, and unethical practices by the hospital were appalling. Medical Negligence: 1. During the first follow-up on 4th November 2024, scans and blood tests were conducted, and we were assured that everything was fine. However, my mother experienced chest tightness and breathlessness shortly after. 2. At the second follow-up on 2nd December 2024, we shared these symptoms with the doctor, but our concerns were dismissed, and we were told not to worry. 3. After further episodes of chest pain and breathlessness on 6th December 2024, the hospital attributed her symptoms to gastric issues, adjusted her medication, and sent us home. Despite this, her condition worsened, leading to multiple hospitalizations, including an admission on 8th December 2024, during which tests were done, and she was discharged on 10th December 2024 with the assurance that everything was fine. 4. On 11th December 2024, her symptoms became critical, and she was rushed to the emergency ward. It was only then that they disclosed her heart's pumping efficiency was just 35%, far below the normal range of 60-70%. This critical information had been present in earlier reports but was never communicated to us. Tragically, we lost my mother on 11th December 2024, the same night she was admitted. The negligence and lack of transparency during her care were unbearable and cost her life. Financial Exploitation: Even though the surgery was covered under the Aarogyasri Scheme, the hospital demanded 2 lakh from us in cash without providing any receipts or proof of payment. When we requested to pay via card or UPI, they outright refused, insisting on cash only. Shockingly, they also took a signed letter from us stating that the hospital had not taken a single rupee from us, blatantly covering up their unethical practices. Final Thoughts: This experience has left our family devastated, both emotionally and financially. Not only did we lose my mother due to medical negligence and lack of transparency, but we also faced unethical financial exploitation during a time when we were most vulnerable. Patients and their families place their trust in hospitals to provide honest, competent, and compassionate care. Medicover Hospital betrayed that trust in every possible way. I urge anyone considering treatment at this hospital to proceed with extreme caution. Ask detailed questions, demand transparency, and document every financial transaction. Our family hopes that sharing this experience will prevent others from going through similar suffering. Hospitals must be held accountable for their actions.
