There appears to be a clear need for improvement in the hospital's management. Today, we visited the hospital in an emergency situation, but unfortunately, there was no responsible person present in the emergency department. The patient was suffering from severe abdominal pain. As per the hospital rules, the OPD doctor was scheduled to be available at 6:00 PM. However, given the patient's condition, waiting for an hour in such intense pain was not possible. We requested the staff in the emergency ward to administer a pain relief injection to provide immediate relief to the patient. Yet, they refused to proceed without first contacting the doctor for approval over the phone. Is this how an emergency department is expected to function -- where a doctor is not present on-site and even primary treatment cannot be administered without telephonic approval? Furthermore, the discussion that took place with the doctor over the phone was not communicated transparently to the patient or their family. In such situations, the patient and their relatives deserve to be informed about what the doctor has advised. We were only told, "The doctor will come and check the patient," and this too was communicated only after we asked, nearly half an hour later -- by which time no treatment had yet been given. Is a patient in such severe pain simply expected to wait without care?
